This week we will be continuing our study of the Roman Republic- specifically the struggle between the patricians and plebeians. On Monday, our class simulated the Conflict of the Orders by looking at "new MMS policies". Later this week we will be writing comparisons between the simulation and the Conflict of the Orders in Ancient Rome. Students will also be taking a vocab quiz on Thursday!
We are also beginning to look at the 4 different periods of expansion in Rome. On Thursday and Friday students worked on questions about this as well as a map showing the expansion. These questions must be completed by Monday. Below is the reading.

The civilization of ancient Rome was at one time, the mightiest on the planet. Yet it began as one small settlement. In 753 BC, the city of Rome was founded on the Tiber River- some people say that the twins Romulus and Remus fought each other for the right to found a capital city and others say that settlers just called it Rome. Whatever the true story is, it is lost to history.
This week we are going to look at how the small settlement of Rome developed into a Republic and "super power". We will take some time to explore important vocabulary before reading about how the Roman Republic worked.
